Jewellery care
Well made jewellery is an investment. It’s something we are proud to wear and makes us feel good. That’s why we want to take care of it.
Tarnish is something that happens to all metals. If you are a jewellery lover you will know that sometimes the surface of your pieces can look dull and discoloured. This is the air, oils and chemicals reacting with the surface of the metal and is completely normal and very easy to fix.
Take you jewellery off before you shower, sleep, bath or swim. Basically, avoid water.
Put on your jewellery as the last thing you do when you get ready. As much as we love make up, lotions and perfumes, it’s best to let them dry before we put our jewellery on.
Remember to take it off when your doing housework, manual jobs or anything which might cause it to get knocked and scratched.
Take it off before exercise
Store in a sealed box or lint free pouch
Use a polishing cloth to add the shine and get rid of any unwanted tarnish. Silver polishing cloths can be picked up easily online. Alternatively you can use a lint free or microfibre cloth. Whatever you do don’t use paper towels or tissue paper.
And finally, wear your jewellery. This sounds counter intuitive but it works. The more you wear it the less chance it has at getting tarnished.
